I always find myself using Google as a starting point for any information research. How can it not be when it is the main information source on any computer or phone nowadays? After my initial search, this is where I must read through and find what is credible and what is not, as anything can be populated as the top search links (search engine optimization can be a downfall sometimes if you’re looking for something credible, and not what someone else has chosen for you to see first). There is SO much information out there in today’s digital age, so it is important to know what is factual and what is opinion based. Scholarly libraires are also a great starting point for any information curation. To date, all information found from a school library site has been reliable and useful. Any thing peer reviewed is reliable to be used as information.
Truthfully, I haven’t had to search for reliable information in a long time, and I will need familiarize myself with credible search engines for scholarly articles again. I create folders for all courses and save appropriate articles needed in sub categories to keep everything organized.
In my professional searches, the hospital intranet has all the information I need. From policies and procedures, medication information profiles, to even any employee contact information, it can all be found in one place. I know I can trust the information that is shared on the hospital intranet page as this information has been vetted by staff members, or has even been condensed to give me all the information I need in a short to the point version, which is important in today’s life.
